Late spring through early autumn offers the most comfortable conditions for exploring the Harz Mountains, historic towns and outdoor attractions. Autumn can also be particularly attractive when the forests change colour, while December offers a very different atmosphere with traditional Christmas markets in several of the cities visited.
Yes. The Brocken Railway allows travellers to experience the scenery of the Harz Mountains without undertaking a long hike. Some walking is still required around the stations and at the summit, but the experience can generally be adapted for travellers who prefer a gentler pace.
Conditions on the Brocken can be considerably cooler and windier than in the surrounding towns. We recommend layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable shoes with good grip, even during the warmer months.
Yes. As this is a private journey, individual sightseeing days can be adjusted. Historic centres often contain cobbled streets, steps and uneven surfaces, but walking distances can be reduced and alternatives arranged for more demanding experiences such as Dragon Gorge or the Titan RT suspension bridge.
The suspension bridge is an optional experience and may not suit travellers who are uncomfortable with heights. Guests can instead enjoy viewpoints around the Rappbode Dam or visit the observation tower, depending on their preferences and local operating conditions.
Yes. The journey covers several distinct periods of German history, from the Holy Roman Empire and Martin Luther to Goethe and Schiller, the Bauhaus movement and the peaceful demonstrations in Leipzig that contributed to the end of East Germany.
Yes. The itinerary can be extended before or after the tour. Berlin is a particularly convenient addition for travellers departing from Berlin Brandenburg Airport, while additional nights can also be arranged in Leipzig, Dresden or other German destinations according to your interests.
Revigorate creates tailor-made journeys designed around each traveller's interests, preferred pace and accommodation requirements. Our travel specialists work with experienced local guides and trusted partners to arrange private transportation, carefully selected hotels and personalised sightseeing. The itinerary can be adapted before travel so that the balance of history, scenery, culture and leisure reflects the way you want to explore Germany.
