You know how some destinations make you choose between lounging on a beach or actually seeing things? Cebu refuses to play that game.

You can swim with whale sharks in the early morning, cool off under waterfalls that look pulled from a nature documentary by midday, and step into centuries of history by afternoon—whether that is visiting Magellan’s Cross or exploring the Spanish-colonial heart of the city. The best part is that it all happens on one island.

Cebu brings together the most iconic sides of the Philippines—marine life, lush jungle landscapes, and heritage—without the constant packing and ferry schedules that come with island hopping. Six days here means waking up in the same resort every morning while experiencing completely different worlds each day.

Whale sharks, Spanish colonial history, and jungle waterfalls, all from one resort.

Day 1

Mactan Airport Arrival, Transfer to Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa, Spa Treatment & Sunset Drinks

Your transition into island life begins the moment your private transfer meets you at Mactan Airport. You’ll head straight to the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa, a sanctuary tucked away on its own private beach cove.

After checking in, take a moment to breathe in the salt air before a long lunch at the resort. The afternoon is dedicated to shedding the jet lag with a signature treatment at the CHI Spa Village. End your first day with a barefoot walk along the lagoon and a sunset cocktail as the sky turns purple over the Camotes Sea.

Day 2

Breakfast, Private Heritage Tour of Cebu City, Shopping & Return to Resort

After a slow breakfast overlooking the gardens, you’ll head into the heart of Cebu City for a private heritage tour. This history lesson also serves as a walk through the soul of the Philippines. You’ll stand before Magellan’s Cross and wander through colonial-era churches and hidden heritage houses.

For lunch, head to the hills to dine at Anzani, where New Mediterranean flavors meet panoramic city views: don't miss their signature slow-braised short ribs. The afternoon is yours to explore local markets for hand-woven treasures before returning to the resort for a quiet dinner.

Day 3

Pre-dawn Departure, Whale Shark Encounter in Oslob, Breakfast, Sumilon Island with Snorkeling, Beach Leisurely Time & Return to Resort

Today starts early, but the payoff is legendary. A pre-dawn drive takes you south to Oslob just as the sun begins to peek over the horizon. Here, you’ll slip into the water to swim alongside whale sharks: gentle giants that move with a grace that defies their size. Once you’ve dried off, a boat whisks you away to the pristine sandbar of Sumilon Island.

Spend midday snorkelling in crystal-clear marine sanctuaries or simply lounging on the shifting white sands. The day ends on a high note with a seafood dinner in a scenic overwater setting, where fresh local catches and coastal views provide the perfect close to an unforgettable day.

Overnight: Cebu

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 4

Kawasan Falls & Swimming, Moalboal Coast Visit, Return to Resort & Spa Treatment

Prepare to see colors you didn't think existed in nature. Today you head to Kawasan Falls, a multi-tier jungle oasis where the water is a vivid, milky turquoise. Whether you choose to float on a bamboo raft, take a leap from a limestone cliff, or just soak in the cool basin, it’s a sensory overload in the best way.

After a local lunch near the Moalboal coast, you’ll head back to Mactan for a relaxed evening. Swap stories over dinner at the resort or head into the city for authentic grilled flavors.

Overnight: Cebu

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 5

Spa or Beach, Leisurely Afternoon or Optional Island Trip, Sunset Drinks & Beachfront Dinner

After three days of adventure, Day 5 is your "reset" button. Sleep in and enjoy a late brunch, then let the day take place however you see fit.

You might spend the morning back at the spa, kayaking through the resort’s marine sanctuary, or taking an optional boat trip to a nearby islet. For a change of pace, lunch can is at The Pig and Palm, where modern European plates are served in a beautiful heritage-style setting. Your final evening culminates in a romantic beachfront dinner under the stars: the perfect way to toast to your last night in the islands.

Overnight: Cebu

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 6

Departure

Enjoy one final breakfast on the terrace before preparing for your departure. If your flight allows, make one last stop at a local artisan shop for some world-class Cebuano guitars or dried mangoes.

Celebrate the end of the journey with lunch at Balay Sa Busay, perched high on a cliffside. Looking out over the sprawling metro and the blue sea beyond, you’ll realize just how much ground you’ve covered before you’re whisked back to the airport for your flight home.

Why Cebu Works When Other Islands Don't

Most Philippine islands make you pick a lane: beach or culture, adventure or relaxation. Cebu does not, its entire setup refuses that choice.

Your resort sits just 20 minutes from the airport, yet feels wonderfully removed—almost like a private island. Down in Oslob, whale sharks glide through the shallows on most mornings, close enough to make out the patterns on their skin. Kawasan Falls looks almost unreal until you are standing in the pool beneath the cascade. And in Cebu City, Spanish-colonial architecture rivals anything you will find in Manila’s Intramuros—only here, you can actually wander at your own pace, without tour buses crowding every corner.

The logistics usually kill trips like this. Three AM pickups for whale sharks, timing waterfalls to avoid crowds, knowing which heritage sites matter, finding restaurants where locals actually eat instead of tourist traps. Six days, five different experiences, one resort as your base. Everything timed, every guide booked, every table reserved.

Cebu's been waiting. Here's how to actually see it.

And if you’re looking to bridge the gap between islands and icons? You can view our complete packages of Asian destinations here, featuring exclusive experiences across the Philippines and the continent’s premier gateway cities.
