Day 1

Welcome to Your Switzerland Grand Tour!

Where You’ll Stay

The Chedi Andermatt 5*

The Chedi Andermatt feels less like a hotel and more like an introduction to Switzerland’s most refined version of mountain living. Conceived by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, its design blends sleek, Asian-inspired minimalism with the warmth of Alpine tradition. From the outside, timber-clad facades and deep overhanging roofs echo the style of classic Swiss chalets, yet the lines are sharper, the proportions grander; a deliberate invitation to expect more than the ordinary. At night, the building glows softly against the surrounding snow-dusted peaks, like a lantern in the heart of the Ursern Valley.

Inside, spaces are vast yet intimate, anchored by roaring fireplaces, deep leather seating, and walls dressed in rich woods and natural stone. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted views of the Alps, bringing the drama of the outdoors into the calm of the interiors. Choosing The Chedi as the first base sets the tone for the entire Swiss Grand Tour itinerary. It’s perfectly positioned for scenic drives through legendary Alpine passes and effortless access to outdoor adventures.

Morning - Midday

Your Swiss Grand Tour begins the moment you step out of Zurich International Airport and into the driver’s seat of your luxury rental. The road south unfurls before you, a ribbon of smooth tarmac that weaves through rolling meadows and into the embrace of the Alps. The air grows cooler and crisper, touched by the scent of pine and distant snow.

The first pause comes in Altdorf, the storied hometown of William Tell. In the shadow of the town’s frescoed tower, Gasthaus zum Kaiserstock welcomes you with its Alpine-modern menu; perhaps a plate of rösti crowned with local mountain cheese, or trout fresh from nearby lakes. From the terrace, the view opens toward the Reuss River, its water running fast and clear. Back on the road, the drive winds through the dramatic Schöllenen Gorge, where sheer granite walls rise on either side and the Devil’s Bridge spans the rush of white water below.

Afternoon

And then, Andermatt. The Chedi Andermatt rises like a contemporary Alpine fortress tucked into the high Ursern Valley with its timber and glass in perfect proportion. Once inside, you’ll sense the scent of cedar and the soft crackle of a fire greet you. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame peaks that still carry streaks of snow. After check-in, the afternoon is yours: slip into the warm waters of the indoor-outdoor pool and let the Finnish sauna work away the last traces of travel, or take a short walk to the Devil’s Bridge for a closer look at the gorge you just crossed.

Evening

Tonight, your table is at The Japanese Restaurant, an intimate 20-seat, Michelin-starred favorite within the hotel. The omakase menu is out of this world with its wagyu tempura that melts in each bite and delicately sliced sashimi paired with crisp sake, that makes each plate a small work of art. After dinner, linger in the Cigar & Wine Library or curl into a fireside chair with a glass of Pinot Noir, watching the night settle softly over the mountains.

Overnight: Andermatt

Day 2

Switzerland’s Scenic Drives

Morning - Midday

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at The Restaurant in The Chedi while taking in the sweeping Alpine views setting the mood for the day. Once full and ready, hit the legendary Gotthard Panorama Drive. Here, you'll notice that The Tremola Road’s cobblestone switchbacks lead you up through dramatic mountain scenery shaped by glaciers and time. About an hour out, stop at Hospice Saint-Gotthard perched at 2,100 meters, with Lago della Piazza nearby reflecting the bright blue sky. If you're into history, take a short detour to Fort Airolo to explore Switzerland’s military heritage.

Lunch awaits at Ristorante San Gottardo, open May through October. The restaurant’s views of the glacier match the warmth of the kitchen. Dive into comforting polenta topped with mountain cheese or savor rich venison ragout, both local favorites. After lunch, return via the modern Gotthard Tunnel—an impressive contrast to the old pass you just traversed.

Afternoon

Back in Andermatt, you have time to explore the Talmuseum Ursern just minutes from the hotel. The museum’s 18th-century manor holds artifacts and stories of valley life, from old skis to handcrafted tools. Later, head to The Chedi’s spa for some well-earned rest. Swim through hydrotherapy pools and breathe in the Himalayan salt stone sauna, before letting a 60-minute Alpine Vitality Massage ease your muscles and mind.

Evening

Dinner brings you back to The Restaurant for refined dishes that blend the perfect East and West. There, opt for Veal medallions with saffron risotto or miso-marinated black cod that offer memorable flavors in a softly lit setting. Afterward, you have the chance to stargaze through The Chedi’s telescope or wander the quiet village streets.

Overnight: Andermatt

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 3

Luxury Switzerland Train Tour

Morning - Midday

Your journey starts on the Glacier Express, settling into an Excellence Class seat with panoramic views. As the train leaves Andermatt behind, alpine peaks dusted with snow and deep valleys open up all around. Climbing toward Oberalp Pass, the highest point on the route, you watch the landscape shift to pure white, dotted with dark mountain pines.

To taste the true essence of this legendary route, a five-course seasonal lunch will be served right at your seat. This is prepared with precision by the onboard culinary team. Expect each dish reflects the region passing outside your window so think tender veal in a delicate wine sauce or perhaps a rich mountain cheese soufflé; paired with Swiss wines chosen to match the journey’s changing landscapes. Between courses, the train curves along the Rhine Gorge and crosses the iconic Landwasser Viaduct, its stone arches rising high above the valley floor.

Afternoon

The afternoon slows down beautifully. Take a walk along Lake St. Moritz and watch the sunlight play on the clear, glacier-fed water, with the surrounding mountains perfectly reflected on its surface. If you enjoy shopping, Via Serlas is the place to be, considering it's Switzerland’s most upscale street. Here, you'll find boutiques that celebrate Swiss watchmaking and craftsmanship. After strolling, stop by Café Hanselmann, a beloved spot since the 1800s. Try out a strong coffee and a slice of Engadin nut tart, with its rich caramelized filling and buttery crust. If you're up for it, visit the nearby Segantini Museum. Just a short walk from the lake, this is where you'll discover alpine landscapes that come alive through the artist’s work.

Evening

In the late afternoon, the Glacier Express begins its return trip. On the way back, the fading light will paint the valleys in warm golden tones. It's picture perfect. Arriving in the evening, the quiet of the Alps settles in deeply. A light dinner or nightcap in The Chedi’s Wine & Cheese Cellar offers a cozy and satisfying end to the day. Aged Gruyère and creamy Vacherin Mont-d’Or paired with a glass from the sommelier’s collection or perhaps in-room dining, where the quiet of the mountains wraps around the night.

Overnight: Andermatt

Day 4

Best Places to Visit Switzerland

Where You’ll Stay

Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa 5*

High-ceilinged salons and sweeping staircases, accompanied with its marble accents recall its 19th-century heritage, while the 5,500-square-meter spa features an indoor pool, saunas and steam rooms. Rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished, many with direct mountain or garden views. Dining includes fine Swiss and Mediterranean cuisine, with wine lists that showcase both regional and international selections.

Morning - Midday

After breakfast and check-out from The Chedi Andermatt, set out by car toward Interlaken. The route follows the Grimsel Pass, a seasonal road typically open from late spring to early autumn, known for its winding curves and still turquoise reservoirs. The climb takes about an hour and a half to reach the summit at 75 kilometers.. A brief stop at Totensee offers the kind of crisp, high-altitude air that seems to sharpen every color, from the deep greens of the alpine grass to the shimmering silver of the water.

From the pass, the road begins its long descent into the Emmental Valley, an hour and fifteen minutes toward Affoltern im Emmental. The green folds of pastureland open up into a landscape dotted with traditional farmhouses, each one framed by long eaves and timber beams. Here, the Emmentaler Show Dairy brings centuries of cheesemaking heritage into view. The “King’s Way” tour reveals the method behind the signature holes, from fresh milk delivery to the cellars where wheels mature for months. Lunch is served at the on-site Restaurant Emmentaler, where alpine mac & cheese arrives with bubbling crust, sausage platters carry a hint of mountain herbs, and fondue steams invitingly at the center of the table.

Afternoon

Back on the road, it’s just over an hour to Interlaken, where Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa stands at the meeting point of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. The Belle Époque façade hints at a legacy of hosting travelers who come for the Bernese Alps’ most celebrated peaks, while inside, a vast spa offers views of the Jungfrau itself. The location isn’t simply scenic but also strategic by making it easy to explore the lakes and mountain railways that define this part of Switzerland.

Evening

Dinner is reserved at La Terrasse Brasserie, the hotel’s elegant dining room where French-Swiss classics are shaped by the seasons, so perhaps trout from local waters or fresh market vegetables paired with regional herbs. A glass of crisp Chasselas or a smooth Valais Pinot Noir makes a fitting match. Afterward, an evening stroll through Höhematte Park offers a view of the snowlit Jungfrau in the fading light.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can we customise the 12-day Swiss Grand Tour itinerary?

Yes. We tailor every element—hotel room types, pace, dining, and daily activities such as wine tastings, castle visits, spa time, and scenic train rides—to your preferences.

  • When is the best time to travel?

For warm weather and clear lake views, May to September is ideal. For snow-capped scenery and winter charm, December to February works beautifully.

  • Is this itinerary suitable for families or small groups?

Absolutely. We can adapt the route for multi-generational families or groups with family suites, gentler walks, and child-friendly experiences.

  • Do we need to drive, or are trains and private transfers included?

The trip blends a luxury rental car for scenic drives with first-class rail segments and private drivers for day trips and airport/station transfers.

  • Is the Glacier Express included, and which class do we travel in?

Yes. You’ll ride the Glacier Express in Excellence Class with a five-course gourmet lunch and panoramic views.

  • What fitness level is required?

The core experiences are relaxed. Optional easy hikes like the Mürren Panorama Trail and Rotenboden-to-Riffelalp are available for gentle activity.

  • What’s included in the package?

Handpicked 5-star hotels, daily breakfasts, luxury car and private driver services, Excellence Class Glacier Express, first-class rail to alpine highlights, Lavaux and Ticino wine tastings, cheese and chocolate experiences, castle tours, Lake Lucerne cruise with Mt. Pilatus round trip, curated dining (including Michelin-starred options), and full spa access at featured hotels.

  • Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

Yes. We coordinate with hotels, trains, and restaurants—Michelin-starred and local—to provide suitable menus (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, halal) with advance notice.

  • How far in advance should we book?

We recommend securing your dates 6–9 months ahead to guarantee preferred room categories, train classes, and key experiences.

  • How do we start planning?

Contact our travel concierge. We’ll refine the route, confirm hotels and experiences, and deliver a seamless, fully customised plan.
